Another misconception about putting a web site on line is the "Build it and they will come" so here again, when you first put up your site, picture it being on the bottom of the ocean, hidden under ten miles of concrete.  Some web sites will need more promotion to bring an audience that has been used to finding your services by traditional means. Also you are selling to real people so writing goofy content that stuffs keywords will make your web site visitors turn tail and run or maybe worst. What all this boils down to is SEO is your number one concern in promoting your web site.
